No matter what you call an afternoon in your yard it should be a positive experience. Stepping out of the screen door and onto the deck should be transportive. When I was in real estate we used to say that what the customer is really buying is the dirt the house is sitting on. The actual value in our transactions was the literal dirt and air on the property. There is a reason for this. No matter what happens to the home the lot remains. Your yard is a constant but it doesn’t have to be dull.
In fact your yard should be the destination for you and your guests. I don’t know about you but I spend the day at work wishing I was in my yard relaxing. Not dreaming about sitting in the dining room or admiring the tile in my bathroom. I want to go out and watch the water on the rocks, the birds in the lawn, and the deer in the back field.
Whatever you dream about having in your backyard isn’t it time you created it? The world, your work, your commute, it’s all crazy but your yard doesn’t have to be. Your yard can reflect the inner you that seeks escape and enjoyment. Don’t wait all year for you “real vacation” instead spend those few hours a day you have in your own Staycation Oasis.
